5 Simple Weight Loss Tips

I’ve heard more than my fair share of weight loss tips. Listen, my mother always told me one hot tip after another. Things that would help me lose 5 pounds in a weekend, or just another food that was going to shed a dozen pounds off. Most of the things that you hear on the radio or read on the internet are bogus and aren’t going to get anyone anywhere. There honestly are a lot of things that can help you lose weight, though. Trust me, I can show you 5 things that will absolutely change your weight loss journey forever.

Tip #1 – Drink More Water

drinking-waterThis seems like a no-brainier, I know. I can think of plenty of people that really aren’t getting the kind of hydration that their body craves. Think about the fact that your body is made up of 70% water. Now think about what that obviously means if you don’t have enough inside of you!

The general rule is 8 glasses a day. If you need a concrete number to stick with, 8 isn’t bad. You should actually be getting enough water that you never feel thirsty. If you only drink once you feel completely parched, you’re already dehydrated and your body has already slowed down your weight loss. It’s too late to make it up at that point. Stay ahead of it! Drink a large glass when you first wake up, have a glass or two with each meal and anytime you pass through your kitchen. This can make a huge difference. My boyfriend struggled with weight loss for a long time before he finally started drinking the amount of water that he should have been.

Tip #2 - Have A Cup Of Green Tea

green-teaGreen tea is one of the biggest natural fat burners that you are going to find on the market today. It’s also one of the easiest things to add to your weight loss regimen. A few cups with lunch will blast your metabolism sky high. Capsules do the job even better, but I’ll explain well.

A study from a few years back looked into this use. Participants were given 250mg capsules of green tea extract and their weight loss was measured. It turns out, those that took the extract had a 23% increase in their metabolism. If you burn an average of 100 calories an hour that’s an additional 23 calories! That might not seem like much, but over time that can add up to an additional pound a week.

Tip #3 – Take The Stairs

keep-calm-and-take-the-stairsIt is hard enough to fit exercise into a busy life. Here’s a tip. Take the stairs. Make use of that last parking spot that is sitting there so lonely. There are plenty of people out there, I used to be one of them, that work on the second floor of a building and insist on taking the elevator there every day. Even a brisk pace up one floor of stairs will at least get your heart rate up and your fat burning, even if it’s only a little bit. If you have a few minutes to take a break, go up and down that same set of stairs a couple of times. It’s easy.

In addition, you should start thinking about taking the long walk into the grocery store. Everyone loves to have a front row spot for the store, but if you park towards the back you will get another 50 yards walk in and 50 yards out. On top of that, you’ll be carrying a load of goods on the way back. 100 yards, like the stairs, isn’t much, but it is enough to help in the long run. Think about it.

Tip #4 – Keep Your Coffee Black

black-coffeeI can’t make it through my morning without having a cup of coffee, and there is a good chance that you would agree. Unfortunately, I always loved it with a hefty dose of white sugar, which didn’t help my weight loss at all. Coffee is a great fat burner and can help you skyrocket your metabolism first thing in the morning.

If you would like to take advantage of that, you should have a tall cup, but a black one. Sugar and cream aren’t going to get you anywhere with your weight loss goal, but a nice strong cup of black coffee will. If you are terrified of that prospect, try adding less and less cream and sugar to your coffee. Eventually, you won’t even notice the difference.

Tip #5 – Skip Breakfast

skip-breakfastI’ll mention this briefly, because it is part of a larger idea that I’ll cover elsewhere. Skipping breakfast and only eating a late lunch and dinner can do wonders for your weight loss goals, even though you have probably heard otherwise. It is known as Intermittent Fasting and has been credited with weight loss, strength gains, hormone balancing, and more.

Making these tips work for you is all about sticking with them and knowing what your problem is. If you aren’t taking a good look at your diet, routine, and health concerns, you can quickly identify the problem. Figure out what you are lacking, try out a few of these tips, and enjoy the incredible results.

Green Tea for Weight Loss & 15 Other Health Benefits

green-tea-lose-weightGreen tea has been around for thousands of years. It is a popular drink in the eastern world and many people in the western world have finally caught on to the benefits, although we’re just now getting a good look into what those actually are. Whether you are looking for something to replace your coffee, or would just like something a little more natural, or are desperate  to find the one thing that will have a significant effect on your weight then this would be it. So let’s dive right into it.

What Is Green Tea?

Green tea is made from similar leaves to the black tea that the rest of the world drinks. When  you process raw tea, the oxidation process turns it black and removes many of the parts that actually benefit your body. Green tea preserves as much of that as possible.

This tea originated in China and is widely popular in Japan, Korea, and Thailand. Chinese people have been using it since almost 4,000 years. Far before the English made tea time famous, these nations were drinking green tea on a regular basis and seeing a huge improvement in their lives as a result of it. Ever wondered why they have such incredible longevity? When I visited China 2 years back, I was fortunate enough to see how it was made and all. I was in a city called Hangzhou which is also known as the green tea city. It was a fun experience.

How To Use Green Tea for Weight Loss?

There are two ways to take green tea if you are interested in weight loss. The traditional way includes drinking 4-5 cups of green tea a day. This can fill your body with antioxidants and keep your body healthy. It’ll even keep you awake since there is a decent amount of caffeine in it, although nothing compared to coffee in many cases.

If you would like to get the maximum benefit though, you are better off taking capsules of green tea extract. A concentrated form of the antioxidants will give you an exponential increase in results. Often, you’ll find green tea extract in a number of over the counter diet pills, but it serves just as well on its own.

Research has found that green tea contains quite a few ingredients such as amino acids, enzymes, caffeine, vitamins, polyphenols, lipids and other dietary minerals. There are a lot of claims when it comes to what those ingredients can do, but the studies that have been conducted state quite a few health benefits.

In 2011 Dr. Robery Goldman headed a study to find out the benefits of green tea especially fat loss. He tested it on mice and he found that there was a 30% reduction in fat absorption after giving them doses of EGCG which is an active ingredient found in green tea. I only have one issue with this study, you would need to have 10 cups a day to achieve the same results. Not only is this not feasible, it might also lead to side effects. We will get into how much you should take each day in the next section. We will also go over what kind of results you should expect and other additional benefits.

Although keeping all that in mind there was another similar study conducted. This time the test subjects were humans, they were all given 250 mg capsules and even in this instance weight loss was observed.

Green Tea a Day keeps the…?

The dosage of green tea is dependent on the effects that you are looking for. If you want to lose weight and I’m assuming you do, 250mg seems to be the sweet spot. That also happens to be the standard dosage for commercial green tea diet pills. Take one pill three times a day and you’ll see a huge difference in your weight.

If you insist on drinking the tea, I would recommend you drink 5 cups a day of very strong tea. It takes a good deal, but if you like the taste it shouldn’t be a problem. It can get expensive though, unless you buy it in bulk. Look for loose teas and make your own bags, you’ll save much more money that way.

With the right dose, 2-3 pounds a week is possible with just the addition of a green tea diet pill. Of course you should always be making the proper changes to your diet and exercising as well. If you combine green tea with proper diet and/or exercise then losing 5 pounds a week is a very realistic goal. Be careful though since the human body can fight back once you start losing weight too quickly. It is always advisable to lose weight on a consistent basis over a period of time rather that looking for overnight success.

Side Effects of Green Tea

Does Anyone Fancy a Green Tea Ice Cream?

The only side effect that you should be concerned about comes from the caffeine content. Too much green tea can cause you to be jittery, lead to sleepless nights and give you high blood pressure. If you stick to the advisable dosage then you probably aren’t ever going to run into such health issues. If you are particularly sensitive to caffeine though, you should try out small amounts and see how your body handles it. If you still have trouble there are green tea extract capsules available that are free of any caffeine. But in anycase I should point out once

again that the caffeine content in green tea is less than that of a typical American coffee, so you should be fine.

Lot of people have had success with green tea and the scientific research cannot be denied. So it is definitely something worth looking into, if not the pills then you should atleast start drinking a few cups every day.

5 Tips For Natural Weight Loss

When I started to make the switch away from synthetic fat loss supplements, I got worried that I might never get the same kind of results from a natural supplement. It is easy to think that you have to have synthetic help with your weight loss in order to have any success. In fact, though, research has discovered that there are plenty of natural ways to boost your weight loss, most of which I’ve had a lot of success with. Read through all of these and think about adding a few into your life.

Drink More Water

natural-weight-lossI mention water on a regular basis, but it really is that important. A tall glass first thing in the morning, between meals, with meals and at the end of the day will keep you well hydrated. 8 glasses is the standard recommendation, but if you feel thirsty having more water is never harmful. Never hesitate to drink a glass if you are headed to the kitchen or getting ready to have a soda.

If you don’t drink enough you will develop hypertension, feel tired and you might have a lot of difficulties losing some weight. Your body can only survive for a couple of days without water. That makes it almost more important than food! Keep in mind that fat is never going to burn off if you aren’t hydrated properly.

Have A Cup Of Green Tea

I had a huge amount of success with drinking green tea. A recent study found that a 250mg capsule of green tea extract charged participants metabolism by 25% for three hours after taking it. If you take a capsule with each meal that will mean that your metabolism is in pure fat burning mode for about 6 hours a day. The addition of caffeine to the mix means that this truly is one of the best natural ways to lose weight.

Switch From Coffee To Yerba Mate

Even switching between different natural beverages can have a huge impact on your life. Coffee is great, and I can’t make it through the day without it, but there are better options when it comes to losing weight. Yerba Mate is a relatively unknown drink that features a combination of stimulants that gives a long lasting, clean energy feeling that helps you stay motivated and burning fat for much longer. There isn’t the crash that coffee is associated with.

For weight loss specifically, yerba mate is important. The long lasting energy means that you can burn fat for longer. Coffee can be great for giving you a boost that will kickstart your metabolism, but it isn’t going to last much and then you don’t have the motivation to eat a healthy meal or workout. Give Meditation A Shot

When it comes to changing something in your life, very few things have given me the kind of benefits that meditation has. Weight loss is only one of the benefits that you are going to find through a meditation practice.

Increased focus, sense of well being, a longer life, and a healthier body are all possible with meditation. In particular, it encourages your body to release the kinds of hormones that regulate body composition and weight. Growth hormone is important to your body and when you meditate to release more of it, you find that you feel stronger and more energetic throughout the day. Your workouts will be easier and you will no doubt see a massive increase in your results.

Moreover you can also try visualizing yourself as if you have already achieved your ideal weight. You can visualize how people will react to it, how you start getting a lot of attention again and every other positive thing that could happen to you by achieving your ideal weight. We will talk about this in more detail in another post by I just felt like mentioning it here. Visualization is most effective when you are in a relaxed meditative state.

Yoga is another great way to lose weight, I wrote about it here.

Get Better Sleep

5-natural-weight-loss-tipsThis is another one that I bring up time and time again. Sleep is essential to your well being and it is one thing that will increase your chances of success more than almost everything else combined. To be honest, a lack of sleep will make you gain weight, feel tired, and become depressed. Sound sleep on the other hand, means that you will be well equipped to handle the day.

If you think that this might be part of your problem, focus on fixing this immediately. For Starters, don’t eat carbohydrates before bed. You should also make sure that you go to bed at the same time every night. Waking up at the same time every day is just as important. If you still need help once you get used to a new routine, try eating a handful of nuts just before you go to bed. The healthy fats and protein that are packed into nuts will give your body a steady source of energy throughout the night only without keeping you awake like carbohydrates do.

All of these can make a huge impact on your life without having to rely on synthetic, harmful alternatives. Staying hydrated and sleeping properly will take care of a lot of it, but if you add in some other cures you’ll exponentially increase your success. Take a good look at your life and these tips. I know that you will find something that can help you and the results you start to see will be absolutely amazing, I can promise you that.

Green tea has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine, but it has caught on in the west recently. First, the fiber will help to move food out of your body so that it doesn’t linger long enough to absorb, which is important if you are eating unhealthily. The fiber will also swell once in your stomach and you will find that you feel full much quicker than you usually would.

Yerba-Mate-Weight-LossYerba Mate

  • Many people try to avoid coffee for health reasons, but yerba mate provides a great alternative. The combination of stimulants that it provides work to give you a long lasting and clean energy feeling. No jitters. No crash. • Hoodia tricks your brain into thinking that you are full. That is one of the most important parts of a diet because many people simply gain weight because they are prone to overeat. • Ephedra is an ancient Chinese herb that was used for centuries before becoming popular as a weight loss aid. It was refined into ephedrine, but the herb itself is also highly effective without the side effects of ephedrine. In many cases, ephedra is a miracle and can help lose weight like nothing else known to man. This is also, however, a banned substance for athletes so do not take this if you compete regularly. Read more about this herb here.

  • Guarana has the ability to both help alleviate stress and stimulate the nervous system. This is common in many energy drinks now, but it is in fact a healthy alternative to many stimulant diet pills. Taken before meals, guarana capsules can both suppress your appetite and make sure that your body is already burning off the energy as soon as you take it in.

  • Ginseng is another ancient herb, but one that is just now being understood fully. Ginseng was found in a study to take charge of the fat regulating chemicals inside of the human body. Where these “switches” would usually tell your body to store energy, rather than burn it, they will be turned off and tell your body to burn the fat off.

  • Dandelions are very common and many people don’t think much about them. In fact, they are a diuretic that can help to cleanse your liver and keep you from storing water weight. With women this is especially a problem, but it can cause bloating in either gender. The liver detoxing effect can also help aid weight gain, however, as well as solve a host of other problems associated with liver problems.

  • Garlic, much like cinnamon, can help to regulate blood sugar levels even when eating carbohydrates. Studies found that even while on a high sugar diet, mice continued to lose weight. Tim Ferris recently listed this as one of his essential weight loss supplements in his best selling book “The 4 Hour Body.
